WESTERN FIELD REPRESENATIVE ANNOUNCED

Jake Alden Selected as Field Services Representative

The American Shorthorn Association is pleased to announce the hiring of Jake Alden as a Field Services Representative operating out of the Omaha office. This position will provide marketing and educational assistance as well as support for events and programs to build relationships between the ASA, its member breeders and all aspects of the beef industry.

Alden has a life long association and history with the Shorthorn breed through his family in Missouri. He is already very familiar with many people and cattle in the breed, not only through his family association but he also served on the American Junior Shorthorn Association Board including a term as president. In addition to assisting with his family’s purebred Shorthorn operation, he has worked with purebred Angus and Charolais cattle in Missouri and a large commercial ranch in Kansas. Most recently he has been employed by the Tri-County Steer Carcass Futurity Feedlots in southwest Iowa. Through this he has been directly involved in the collection of information for gene marker validation as well as all types of carcass, growth and health data and reporting these results to cooperators and customers throughout the US and Canada. This array of experiences will help him continue to build more relationships and navigate back and forth successfully with the purebred aspect of our association and the commercial cow/calf producers and feedlot and packing industries.

This Hamilton, Missouri native is the son of Ronald and Judy Alden and has two sisters, Jalane and Haley. He is a graduate of Fort Scott Community College, Fort Scott, Kansas and the University of Missouri – Columbia. He was a member of highly successful livestock judging teams at both institutions and also had intern experience with the Missouri Extension Service.
